About

Rebecca Bell is a painter, writer and lecturer based in Bristol in the UK. She grew up in the Welsh Borders, moving to Glasgow and London to work in contemporary art commissioning and higher education. She has a PhD from the Royal College of Art and Victoria and Albert Museum. Alongside academic life, her main love is walking and painting in green places in both rural and urban contexts to find spaces of reprieve and insight. She started She Can See the Hills in 2020. The resulting paintings and drawings are part of a bigger research-in-progress to explore self, community, landscape, memory, haptic and embodied ways of being - and to celebrate kinship in the landscape. To see all of Rebecca's work, go to her Instagram gallery @SheCanSeetheHills where she uploads new sketches, drawings and paintings every week.
